In August 2000 at the 81st International General Assembly of the House of God, etc., Inc. Minister Robert L. Diaz was appointed to be the Co-Pastor of Temple #2 in New York, New York, in which is serve for a short period of time.
After the New York, New York assignment, Minister Diaz continual as a pastor. Along two family members, Minister Diaz began looking for a place of to establish the House of God Hebrew Pentecostal Church. In April 2001, at the age of 28 Minister Diaz was appointed the State Superintendent of New York by then Chief Apostle, Bishop F.C. Scott. making him the youngest State Superintendent ever appointed by the church. From his appointment until the General Assembly in August of the same year, Minister Diaz along with two members, visited House of God churches in the State of New York, while he covered his State Superintendent duties.
In New Rochelle, Pastor Diaz and the congregation spread the good news of Jesus Christ. While at New Rochelle the church became incorporated in the State of New York and aired a weekly radio broadcast. The average attendance on Sabbath was four saints, with the addition of two saints who joined the church in New Rochelle.
The church continued in New Rochelle until the Lord began dealing with Pastor Diaz to further spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and go to “unoccupied territory” to build Him a house. Pastor Diaz began searching for the territory and with the leading of the Lord went to Newburgh, New York and started looking for a building.
The church began negotiating to purchase a building in Newburgh the summer of 2003. After realizing the great need of funds to purchase a building the church did not to return to New Rochelle and after two complete years of being there; New Rochelle will always be remembered as the “Training Ground” for the church.
During the time of negotiations, the church worship services was held on Sabbaths in the Bronx, New York apartment of Pastor Diaz. On October 30, 2003, the church purchased 149 William Street, Newburgh. The location needed many repairs and the church began to completely renovate the building. Due to the lack of funds and the need of renovation time, the church continued to worship in Pastor Diaz’s Bronx apartment until August 2004.
In August 2004 four saints of all ages, began to pray of Sabbath days in the new location yet to be completed. And during the Seventh day Sabbath of the Feast of Tabernacles, October 2, 2004, the church opened its doors in Newburgh, New York for all to come in.
Upon entering the new location Pastor Diaz desired to relocate his family to Newburgh to be close to the church. In November 2005 the church purchased 147 William Street to serve as the parsonage, after servicing as such, it went through renovations to serve as a multipurpose building.
In 2016, the church purchased vacant land located at 124 Overlook Place, just around the corner from its current location. The church once again purchased additional adjacent properties July 1, 2020, the purchase included an additional buildings and parking lot. The purchase over doubled the size of land own by the church. The additional buildings that were acquired went through a major revocation and now serve as the church’s Administrative Office and storage facilities.
In 2017 Pastor Diaz was appointed a Vicar by the Chief Apostle of the House of God and again in 2023 he was ordained a Bishop. The membership of the church has increased from its beginning with two members to over 100 saints that joined the ministry. Members ages ranged from birth to 100. The membership is multicultural, with saints that was born in seven different countries and that can speak four different languages.
The Lord is continuing to bless the church and the history of the House of God Hebrew Pentecostal Church goes on.
